Sexual Dysfunction: The Escalating Price of Abusing Porn

14 May

I was just directed to an interesting article about the effects of pornography on male sexual dysfunction:  Sexual Dysfunction: The Escalating Price of Abusing Porn | Sex and Intimacy.  I found the article incredibly interesting and full of fascinating facts and explanations.

It turns out that my theory seems to be correct – excessive porn use can cause decreased desire or ability to perform with a willing spouse.  It can also lead to sexual dysfunctions like erectile dysfunction (ED) and delayed ejaculation (DE).

Here is one of my favorite quotes from the article:

“In a way, this confirms what many in the sexual addiction treatment field have known for quite some time—that among the many symptoms and consequences of sex and porn addiction is reduced or even nonexistent interest in sexual, physical, and emotional connections with spouses and/or longer-term sexual partners.”

I knew it wasn’t about me this whole time, but seeing those words coming from a clinical psychotherapist was extremely validating.

this quote absolutely right , bored of sex can make that “consequences of sex and porn addiction is reduced or even nonexistent interest in sexual, physical, and emotional connections with spouses and/or longer-term sexual partners.”

Glad I could be helpful. I know exactly what you mean about validation… Now I have something other than my common sense that proves his sexual addiction problems were causing real-life sexual dysfuctions. I was glad to come across this article myself.

I read this yesterday and the article and it was likeOMG, VALIDATION!!!!!! I’d told my husband this on several occassions when he was having issues with DE. I told him he’d become desensitized to “real” sex with me. But I just didn’t have the “proof” to back it up. SO SO glad you posted this!

Isn’t it interesting how a man or woman so drenched in a contestant stream of hightened erotica looses their sexuality. I remember the pain of being rejected by mr scabs. Wondering why he wasn’t interested in me.

I like how you’ve done lots of research about the “workings” of a addict. Thanks for sharing. It sure helps me understand what has been going on in my marriage.
